
OBITUARY – JENNIE N. KOSTANSKI
GREENFIELD: Jennie N. (Samorajski) Kostanski, 93, formerly of Millers Falls, died Friday (2-13-98) at the Franklin Center Genesis Eldercare Network in Greenfield.
She was born in Millers Falls on June 7, 1904, the daughter of Peter and Josephine (Dabek) Samorajski. She had been a resident of Millers Falls most of her life and attended the former Highland School in Killers Falls.
She was employed at the Millers Falls Tool Co. for 22 years, retiring as an inspector in 1954. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her home and family.
She was a communicant of St. John’s Church of Millers Falls. She was a member of the former Millers Falls Relief Corps. She was past president and treasurer of the Polish Veteran Auxiliary and a founder and past president of the former Polish Women’s Social Club of Millers Falls.
An avid Red Sox fan, she attended many games at Fenway Park in Boston. She also enjoyed playing cards, specifically whist and bridge.
Her husband, Walter Kostanski, died June 5, 1990. They had been married 68 years.
Survivors included two sons, Walter T. of Turners Falls and Henry A. of Greenfield; a brother Eugene Samoriski of Holyoke; a sister, Laura Wabeck of Greenfield; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, the Rev. Peter J. Samorajski.
Due to renovations at St. John’s Church, services, all in Turners Falls, will be held Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 11 Unity St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church with the Rev. Dennis Bombardier, pastor of St. John’s Church, officiating.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield.
